Swiped (the older version, not the 2025 one) is a film that attempts to explore the world of dating apps through the creation of one called Jungle. On paper, that sounds like a relevant and timely concept. Dating apps are such a huge part of modern life that you’d expect the movie to have plenty of material to dig into. But the execution here falls flat in almost every way, leaving the film feeling slow, clumsy, and outdated before it even begins.
The first thing that immediately stands out is the filming quality. For a theatrical release, or even just a professional streaming film, the look of this movie is shockingly rough. At times, it honestly felt like someone was recording the actors with their cell phone. The framing is awkward, the lighting often looks unflattering, and the whole thing just doesn’t have that polished movie feel. While there are moments where the visuals improve slightly as the story moves forward, it never shakes the impression of being amateurish, like a student film that somehow got distribution. That lack of technical polish is distracting, and it prevents the audience from ever fully settling into the story.
The direction from the filmmaker is… fine, but “fine” isn’t enough when the script itself feels unfinished. The story never finds a steady rhythm. Instead, it bounces from idea to idea without really expanding on anything. At times it seems like the filmmakers had a clear message in mind—commenting on how everyone struggles in the dating world, how people are searching for connection, and how apps like Jungle are both a solution and a problem. That’s a good message, one worth exploring. But the problem is, the movie doesn’t show us this message through its characters or its story—it tells us outright. Whenever a film has to spell out its theme because it can’t express it naturally through the script or performances, that’s a red flag. And that’s exactly what happens here.
The cast doesn’t do much to save the material either. Aside from Noah and the mom, most of the actors felt unknown, and unfortunately, their performances didn’t leave much of an impact. It was hard to care about them or root for their journeys because the performances were so flat. The energy just wasn’t there. A film like this really depends on its characters being charismatic and relatable—you need to want to follow them through the highs and lows of dating app drama. Instead, it felt like the actors were just going through the motions, and that made the whole experience harder to stay engaged with.
And then there’s the tone, which is all over the place. One minute it’s trying to be funny, the next it’s leaning into heavier conversations about relationships, and then it shifts again into almost melodramatic territory. None of these tones ever fully land, and the movie ends up feeling scattered and unfocused. I wouldn’t call it unwatchable—it’s not the worst film I’ve ever seen—but it’s one of those movies where you spend most of the time waiting for it to finally click into place. Unfortunately, that moment never comes.
The sad part is, Swiped really did have potential. The concept of exploring dating apps through film is something audiences can relate to. It could have been witty, sharp, or even heartfelt if handled with better writing and direction. Instead, it just feels like a missed opportunity—an underdeveloped story that plays out too slowly and never figures out what kind of film it really wants to be.
In the end, Swiped is forgettable. You might watch it once out of curiosity, but it’s not the kind of movie you’ll ever revisit. It’s the definition of a one-and-done viewing experience: slow, scattered, and missing the heart it needed to really resonate

When it comes to bad movies I've seen

When it comes to bad movies I've seen I thought I decided to go ahead and watch and review one of them to entertain you all whether those films are gonna p**s me off or bore me to death whether if I decide of they're not garbage or they're are due to them being horrible which is one of the reasons why I decided to watch Swiped which is why I'm looking forward for a rant and you know what, I don't think I need to because nothing about it p***es me off in the slightest. James, a freshman college student who is a computer genius, is asked by his roommate, Lance, to make the best hook-up app called Jungle. But when James finds out that his divorced mother is using the app, things go awry. Considering that this is the third film I've seen Noah Centineo in which I don't know how long Netflix need him to kiss their a**es considering that it's distributed by iTunes and Netflix, it's not even on Netflix anymore which is r****ded because Netflix shouldn't have deleted their movies from their own platform, they should've let their films stay there forever 'cause they're their property. You know what? I was going to review this movie after watching it the first time but I don't have the urge to do so and the next morning I was going to watch it again but no because I don't want to waste my time watching crappy movies even though I don't get p***ed off at bad movies more often. There are two options on why I thought my opinions of films that p***ed me off and not, whether it's boring, I'm not p***ed off and whether it's very good, I'm p***ed off, so here's that. Whilst I'm watching it without a fail, you know what, nothing, nothing about this had me burst out laughing. I didn't crack a laugh once. It was boring, it was tedious, it was so beyond a pale. It's not the worst film I seen period but I've seen far worse. I'm sorry, was somebody commenting on my review? A stranger, I might add saying: "What don't you like about it? Would you rather listen to your mum's singing voice other than ranting on movies you hate?" No, you ***ting s*****c! God, this p***es me off so much. When James' sister asks that he has to meet people instead of playing on his laptop every time, next up she uses his room as her own room. Jeez, b***h, get out of his bedroom and leave him alone. He doesn't want to meet strangers like you and your parents do. Hell, I sure as hell don't talk to strangers, I just mind my business like he does. C**k! So Swiped is something I'm interested in watching so I can rant on it 'cause of how bad it is but no, nothing about it p***ed me off in the slightest of amount of delicious revenge. This film is nothing more than a bad movie. Not the worst I've seen but still, it's just bad. Like most bad films I've seen rather I seen them once they're all t**ts and twice they're all the same thing so that I have the urge to review them properly without fail whether to make you laugh, shock and both will be in your own category. Take it from me. ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐
