Plot summary

A socially awkward, environmentally-conscious teenager named AJ is dragged to a coastal holiday park by her painfully 'normal' family, where she becomes unexpectedly captivated by a chlorine smelling, sun-loving lifeguard named Isla.

I thought this was a fairly entertaining coming

I thought this was a fairly entertaining coming of age story. The script was intelligent, if a little cliched now and then, and the acting good, especially the portrayal of AJ’s mother. I will say that I got tired of the woe is me attitude of AJ, but perhaps I am just biased. I had a brother and my father die while I was still a teenager and managed not to get whiny, morose, or hate the world and everything in it. But I guess for there to be character growth in this sort of movie, you need to leave a lot of room for her to grow. I also thought the songs selected for the film were especially poor and didn’t suit the mood at all. But perhaps these were the favorite groups of the movie’s target audience.

Contrived, predictable and boring

Every character, setting, dialogue and event is so contrived, predictable and ultimately unforgivably boring. Nothing new to say at all. Really cringeworthy dialogue at certain times. Seems like an A-level student drama brought to the screen. Imagine every cliche out there thrown into a blender and what you get is a very boring plate of plain mashed potato. Nothing offensive just dreadfully dull.

The camera work is so shoddy that many times angles are fixed on screen.

Am a big supporter of small, independent art house movies but stuff like this gives those a bad name. Can't believe the National Lottery funded this.
