A visual masterpiece and no wonder since the cinematographer is Sir Roger Deakins who has had many awards. I admit that his work here impressed me more than other better known movies he has done, like No country for Old Men. The story is a formulaic gangster plot that takes place in Newcastle UK during a week of strengthening relations with the USA. So, during a banquet we have a clever framing of a small American flag next to the impressive cleavage of the young Melanie Griffith, who plays the moll of a bad guy, but eventually hooks up with the more ethical protagonist. Eventually a Jaguar XJ coupe is being blown up, but the heroes live to fight another day. The music includes the BB King rendition of the title song and some free jazz that is an acquired taste. On Prime.

Interesting seeing a young Sean Bean, Melanie Griffin Tom Lee Jones. But I thought Sting gave the best performance in this rather bad movie.

This is a real 80s cult classic type film, with a gritty, noir-ish feel to it and a heavy emphasis on colour (neon lighting/artificial colour). It features an impressive cast - it's worth watching if 'just' to see Sting, Sean Bean and a youngish Tommy Lee Jones. It features slow jazz type music in the background and has perhaps a slight 'Blade Runner' feel to it, even though it doesn't have a futuristic setting - the fact its set specifically in Newcastle seemed random enough to me. Its quite a watchable and entertaining film, so I'd recommend it, yes.
