Plot summary

Jaime Escalante is a mathematics teacher in a school in a hispanic neighbourhood. Convinced that his students have potential, he adopts unconventional teaching methods to try and turn gang members and no-hopers into some of the country's top algebra and calculus students.

A nice feel good film. No real drama or depth though. The actors a very good and they display the issues with their schools very well for the time period.

Feels good to see a movie that resonantes

Feels good to see a movie that resonantes with me and my culture. I feel like I miss a large piece of that with current films, but watching this classic hit like home cooked food after traveling for months.
