A Great Personal Perspective On Movie Theatre Film

A Great Personal Perspective On Movie Theatre Film Projectionists Writer, producer, editor and director Rob Murphy takes a real insightful and dynamic look into the almost extinction of a movie house experience employee who used to be vital to the visceral experience watching movies in a dark room on a big screen. Theatre Projectionists. Giving a very personal history of his personal experience in childhood to his understanding of where film from 16 MM to 35 MM to 70 MM to Cinerama to TOD AO and everything in between on how the movie experience was created both with technology and sound design and development. With interviews from current and classic projectionists from all over the world and film cinematographers like the genius that is Douglas Trumbull along with commentary with many film historians including Leonard Maltin – it's one of those documentaries that includes upbeat music, clips and easter eggs of film memorabilia throughout. From an entertainment aspect – this film it did seem a little long and repetitive in the middle but did open with a bang and close with a feeling of we may be losing a little bit of film history, but there are a few film enthusiastic keeping the celluloid tradition – even if in limited locations – alive. Bravo Rob – let's go to the movies! Lorenzo M.

Excellent movie, I learned so much about film and projection from this in both historic and modern contexts. Particularly, all the different projection methods that are so often mentioned in rye opening credits of old movies. The story of the movie flows really well through a number of topics and the time flew by. An epic effort to put this film together over so many years (it shows with how much is covered in the film) and it's thanks to things like this and Tarantino's Hateful 8 that I got interested and informed about the world of analogue film projection.I really recommend this to anyone with even a casual interest in film, projection or cinema history. Thanks to the creators for making this film!
