Plot summary

Don't let the zombie plague plot device discourage

Don't let the zombie plague plot device discourage you. This a lean, mean tightly crafted film. The Zombies are like a Greek chorus, wordlessly commenting on the narrative. The film is actually an existentialist cry of despair, like Albert Camus at his most hopeless. The cinematography is informed by Sergio Leone's Fistful of Dollars films, with long, unflattering extreme closeups of pockmarked skin and crater like pores! The film's lean aesthetic is awesome. The film opens with the bare minimum of exposition and back story, just enough to draw you in and not a minute more. And gets right to the heart of the story as abruptly as I've ever seen. In any other film, this would seem like the film makers were uncertain how to pace the film. But in THIS film, it just works. Lean. Not one superfluous minute . Bravo!

Plodding

Slow and lugubrious like a funeral procession with all of the attendant dreariness of it all, an inexplicable storyline mixed in with a mad max stylee and some fairly good makeup effects might have been more than the sum of its parts but sadly it failed to hit the mark and without a plot or anything interesting within it just became a bit lame.

As a consummate Zombie genre fan I had to watch it but regretted it almost at the 15 minute mark but with my movie watching ocd I had to watch till the end and it is one of those movies where you start to do other things like browse the internet in between checking the subtitles or wondering how long it has to go by checking the running timeline in VLC - Not a good sign!
