Plot summary

Years after settling an epic family feud and surviving house arrest in Punjab, Jassi Singh Randhawa returns this time chasing love, not trouble. Rating: 3.9/10 ⭐️ I hoped for the chaotic fun of the original, but this was a massive misfire. What Worked: Bajaj’s cinematography and the UK locations give the wide framing a polished texture. Thakur grounds the chaotic blocking, anchoring the emotional beats. Seeing Jassi put his heartbreak aside to help a young couple beautifully mirrors my Methodist values, showing how serving others brings healing even when our lives fall apart. The Cuts: The middle part really dragged for me as the fake-war-hero ruse gets stretched thin with repetitive gags. It sucks Sanjay Dutt couldn’t return; the recast messes with the legacy chemistry, making the rival dynamic feel forced. Keeping it spoiler-free, the overstuffed soundtrack and random musical numbers totally kill the pacing and cause major tonal whiplash. Verdict: An unnecessary sequel that loses the original’s magic. Okay for pretty locations, but skip if you want a tight script. Favorite Line: “I’m a retired war hero.”

I tried Son of Sardaar 2 (2025) for some foreign flavor—Hindi comedy, subtitles on—and it was a wild, colorful ride! Starts with epic dances and music that popped, then dives into Ajay Devgn's Jassi dealing with his cheating wife in the UK. He gets roped into faking being a Pakistani girl's dad for her Punjabi wedding, hiding identities amid troupe drama and betrayals. The comedy's super illogical—new characters popping up left and right, total mess—but I laughed at the absurdity. There's real drama on infidelity and a sharp (if comedic) jab at exploitative marriages. Music's hit-or-miss, but the vibes are fun. Big downside: India-Pakistan stereotypes felt negative and off-putting. Ratings are trash, but I enjoyed the masti more than most—6/10. Worth a watch if you like dumb Bollywood fun; skip if cultural jabs bug you.
