Leo and Angela Russo live a simple life in Queens, surrounded by their overbearing Italian-American family. When their son finds success on his high school basketball team, Leo tears the family apart trying to make it happen.
Well, I don't have a wife and his said nothing about this movie so I don't know if its an excellent one.....
But: while it starts somewhat interesting, it gets flat pretty quick. The actors did a good (or really good in some cases) job, except for the mother and the father that tried too hard and it felt fake. I know they tried to go for "the feels" but it still felt fake. The pacing is kinda meh, it goes ok at first and then starts up or down on the movie's need to pick up the pace to get to the "good" stuff. The director did a meh job ( mostly bleh), the cinematography is not shining through. Some fake character development... What else? Oh, sports. Yeah, not really. Comedy, I'd rather not. Mostly cringe, more so when it ends the 2nd act. I don't know, maybe thats a normal thing in those cities but for me it was horror watching that unfolding on the screen. Production value is low, but thats ok. What else? I don't know, soundtrack meh etc.
So: should you watch it? If you can, try not to. This one is a 4, and not for the stuff that it got praised for (directorial debut, parents' acting etc).
Have a lovely day.
