Greg Lamberson's 1988 cult-classic, SLIME CITY, has oozed its way in to the hearts of Horror fan with its over-the-top humor and outrageous gore, so the announcement of a sequel some twenty years later came as a shocking surprise. The film itself, unfortunately, isn't quite as welcome. New York City has been devastated by a dirty bomb, leaving only a few mangled survivors to struggle on in the wasted remains of "Slime City." Cory and Alexa decide take refuge here while avoiding the draft, but in their search for food, they come across a secret stash of unexpirable yogurt and elixir that were left behind by a death cult decades earlier. After sharing the food with another pair of squatters, the four are transformed into gooey superheroes of sorts, who hit the streets to clean up crime in Slime City! SLIME CITY MASSACRE is an absolute mess, and a bore to watch. The frequent flashbacks only detract from the film, and add no greater depth to the series, whatsoever. Although it hardly seems possible, the awful make-up work and bargain-basement effects are even worse than before, with a surprising lack of splatter until the final reel. Cory and Alexa are hardly compelling characters, and any attempts at social commentary fall flat. It begs the question "Why?" What was so important about this story that the filmmakers felt they had to make a sequel? Lloyd Kaufman's "Special Disappearance" at the start of the film should clue you in to the target audience, but most will find SLIME CITY MASSACRE to be a disappointing waste of time. -Carl Manes I Like Horror Movies

The 1980s were a golden age of horror—not always for genuine scares, but for the birth of campy, over-the-top cult classics. Many of these films thrived not because they were terrifying, but because they created memorable monsters, strange worlds, and stories that stuck with horror fans for decades. Unfortunately, Slime City never managed to capture any of that charm. The original Slime City (1988) is, quite frankly, a mess. The direction feels aimless, as though the filmmaker wasn’t entirely sure how to construct a horror movie. Instead of leaning into the fun, cheesy energy that makes ‘80s horror so beloved, the film drags along with a bizarre concept that never gels. The acting doesn’t help either—every performance feels stiff, awkward, and amateurish. It’s the kind of cast where you wonder where exactly they found these people and how they ended up in a feature film. The writing is equally disastrous. Scenes play out with little logic, the pacing is uneven, and the “slime” concept—meant to be gross-out horror—just comes across as silly and nonsensical. It’s not scary, it’s not entertaining, and it certainly doesn’t rise to the level of cult fun. Then there’s the sequel, Slime City Massacre (2010), which somehow manages to be just as bad—if not worse. You’d think, after two decades, lessons might have been learned, but no. The same flaws return: clumsy direction, atrocious acting, and incoherent writing. The “city of slime” setting sounds like it could’ve leaned into ridiculous B-movie territory, but instead it’s just confusing, dull, and almost unwatchable. Both films share one unfortunate trait: they are so forgettable that you’ll probably wipe them from memory within a week. Unlike other low-budget horrors that found cult followings by being so-bad-they’re-good, Slime City and its sequel are simply bad.

Slime City Massacre is a a wild, weird, sans cheesy humor average Horror Movie. The Movie is not Scary though, But It is more of a sci-fi horror film with a dark comedic twist that's hardly little. The performances are ok, And fans of the absurd humour and over-the-top violence will like this flick. MY RATING: 6 / 10
