@Woodsman2000 Very well said my friend.

"make a list of the world's greatest directors of all time, then make a list of each director's best films." - yep! Great idea! And do the same thing in newspapers (the best rated by journalists), the greatest politicians, the cleverest in society, psychology and medicin - and you may get to know about the world. But with old books it might become boring.

No need for that negativity, man. There's movies of all kinds being made. Yeah, some of them may seem pointless at first, but most of them are still aimed at some demographic and actually have an audience that enjoys them. If you're overwhelmed, I'd follow in line with karlpopper's advice and focus either on historically important films (as it seems to match up with your sentiment that 'the best films have already been made'), or just watch what interests you and leave the rest for everyone else to talk about. Your argument holds no water, because movies are made all around the world all the time, and even in decades past it was already impossible to catch up, so the situation is still the same, production has just become more available to people with fewer resources.

@stopdeletingme1 - a good way to deal with this problem is to make a list of the world's greatest directors of all time, then make a list of each director's best films. Take your time watching everything on the list. You will avoid the "noise" and you'll get a film history education in the process. One of the best things I've ever done.

stopdeletingme1 ...how about you stay offline and keep your whining to yourself!!! No one told you to log onto this site. There is no "we" that includes YOU and most people on here greatly appreciate the content provided!
