Plot summary

Like most of the people in her town, Karen Silkwood works at the local nuclear plant producing highly radioactive plutonium. Exposed one day to a lethal dose of radiation, Karen faces the blank walls of corporate indifference and denial. As her illness increases, her protest grows louder and she becomes an obvious danger to the powers that be.

NYT 1000 films. Great cast. Some bizarre social

NYT 1000 films. Great cast. Some bizarre social issues, but it’s based on a true story that should be told. It pits keeping jobs in a struggling industry vs safety and worker rights. It oversimplified many of the issues and didn’t explain what she was doing to prove her case. It just alluded to facts in a notebook. Could have been more compelling. One of my favorite aspects was how they showed the uneducated aspects of the workers, but how despite that they rose to the occasion because they needed to know what they were doing to protect their wellbeing. Saw on box.
