Plot summary

After a health crisis that keeps her home, Klara does nothing but listen to her favorite radio show, Follow My Voice. But one day she wonders: is it possible to fall in love with someone she has only heard on the radio but never met? Could she really have feelings for Kang, the radio show host whose voice she has only heard once, and will she overcome her fears to step out into the world again?

Follow My Voice struggles to connect despite an interesting premise, ultimately delivering an experience that feels more frustrating than effective. The film leans into a cartoonish tone at times, using exaggerated elements that clash with what should be a more grounded and unsettling atmosphere. That stylistic choice never fully works and becomes distracting. Narratively, the story feels underdeveloped. Ideas are introduced but not explored deeply enough, leaving the film feeling flat instead of immersive. The screenplay is one of the weakest elements. It often feels confused about its own direction, jumping between concepts without fully committing to any of them. That confusion carries into the direction as well. There’s a sense that the filmmaker is unsure how to translate the script into a cohesive and compelling story. Follow My Voice isn’t without effort, but the lack of clarity and development holds it back, making it difficult to recommend as a fully realized film.

A beautiful story

I'm not a fan of these kinds of stories, I'll admit, but I loved this one. It simply won me over little by little as the minutes went by. The lead actress, Berta Castaño, gave a standout performance; her character captivated me. Special mention goes to Jae Woo, a real heartthrob and very restrained in his acting. It was great to see Nuno Gallego in a different role, and I actually started watching the film because of him, and it was a wonderful experience. And it surprises me, since I don't usually like these Wattpad stories. It's a story about resilience, mental health, and self-love. Simply beautiful.
