? Why I gave it 7/10
1. The premise is so relatable (and a bit cheeky)
The story of Gilang, an extra who tries so hard he's seen as a "nuisance", is so true to life in the creative world. He isn't a failure - he just wants to be noticed too much. And when he finally finds himself in an extreme situation (kidnapping on a film set), all those "excesses" that were once seen as over-the-top actually become his tools for survival.? This is what gives the film its message:
sometimes what gets you rejected... is exactly what will save you.2. A strong lead character, but deliberately "uncomfortable"
Gilang Garnida - Jourdy Pranata
Ambitious, over-the-top, a bit cringe... but sincere. He's the kind of character who makes you torn between wanting to support him or saying: "bro, chill a bit."
And that's precisely his strength. He's so human.3. A fairly successful blend of genres
This film isn't just a comedy:
there's dream and family drama
there's action (survival, kidnapping)
there's film industry satire
And surprisingly... it all fits together quite well, without feeling forced.4. A solid cast, but not everyone gets the spotlight
Some key characters:
Gilang - Jourdy Pranata (lead character)
Rachel - Beby Tsabina (the actress Gilang has a crush on)
Kevin - Kevin Julio (leading actor, romantic and career rival)
Other supporting characters: Kenny Austin, Verdi Solaiman, Yeyen Lidya
The problem is:
some of the supporting characters feel underdeveloped - they're there, but they don't really 'come alive'.5. Why not more than 7?The pacing is uneven; some parts feel like filler
The humour is inconsistent - sometimes hilarious, sometimes flat
The story is fairly simple, focusing more on character development than a grand plot
So it's not a film that makes you go "WOW", but it does make you care.? Conclusion
This film isn't about becoming a great actor. It's about someone who's overly confident... but it turns out he really does have something. There's one feeling that lingers after watching:
"Maybe I haven't failed yet... I just haven't found my stage yet."
7/10 = warm, relatable, but doesn't quite pack a punch.
