Shark Girl had a bizarre, potentially fun premise—a girl mutated by nuclear waste into a half-shark, half-human creature—but the film completely fails to deliver. The screenplay is scattered and confusing, jumping between plot points without giving characters depth or motivation. The main girl and her best friend feel underdeveloped, making it hard to care about their fates. The creature effects, especially her teeth, are laughably bad, turning scenes meant to be scary into unintentionally comedic moments. Acting is mostly weak, with only the love interest showing any credibility, and the direction fails to build tension or cohesion. Pacing is erratic, transitions are abrupt, and the film feels rushed and poorly executed. Overall, Shark Girl squanders its unique concept, leaving a frustrating, flat, and forgettable movie experience.
