Plot summary

A lot deeper than it appears

While the movie was hilarious and absurd on the surface, I found myself thinking about it first thing in the morning - which is always a good sign for a movie for me. "How did he know these people?" "What was his motive?" It is hard to explain why it grew on me without giving spoilers, but in short, the main character Kurita, acted skillfully by Serizawa-san comes across as a disturbing, sick person while viewing, but when I came to think of it, he was actually helping these couples.It is unfair to give this movie a low rating without a bit of knowledge about Japanese culture and the decline in loyalty and happiness in marriages in today's Japan. (I worked for a Japanese company for 10 years and had many conversations with my colleagues about such topics over time). Without background info as such, it may seem too absurd and nonsense to a viewer from the West.One of those movies that display why cinema is such a powerful form of art. Watch it with an open mind.
