Plot summary

After being falsely accused of robbing a bank, a writer seeks the help of his lawyer ex-wife to clear his name. However, hilarity ensues when he must hide from her husband, who’s throwing a party for law enforcement officials.

Someone told me it was the funniest film

Someone told me it was the funniest film they had ever seen. I no longer listen to them or respect their evaluation of films. The film was not funny to me at all. Boring and contrived.

I lost interest after about half an hour

I lost interest after about half an hour. Started with a lot of promise but soon got bogged down in the mundane drudgery of character backstory. Lots of exaggerated, uninteresting characters. Chevy Chase was charming as always (on screen)

Before seeing a clip of this movie on Facebook, l'd never seen or heard of it. When I realized Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase were in the movie, I almost immediately wanted to watch it. I viewed it through Amazon Prime. Hawn and Chase play former spouses. Grodin is her sweet dud of a husband. There's dogs, a maid, a driver, a judge, police, and clients needing legal defense. The movie never really goes anywhere and doesn't really end. It's the worst. The most amazing thing to me is when actors can act and make it through a bad movie with a plot that never takes off because it never had a real script. On a lighter note, seeing Grodin in the movie with a St. Bernard is a great prelude to “ Beethoven”.
