Plot summary

In the hope of winning the woman of his dreams, Amanda, lovelorn meter-reader Roger Wadell enrolls in a secret confidence-building class. The course's title takes on much more meaning when he discovers that his egomaniacal professor Dr. P also wants the same woman. They begin a fierce rivalry that quickly spirals out of control, their pranks and insults get uglier as they try to prove who is the ultimate guy's guy.

2026 and I have no idea how I

2026 and I have no idea how I never watched this before. So I'm not surprised it got low ratings RT is always backwards but I loved this movie especially like I said watching it 20 years later and it's impressively funny. Thornton and Heder was an amazing pair in this, I couldn't stop laughing and was rooting for Heder the whole movie. This was a great film about the underdog out witting his superior "teacher" which I hated in this, I love the really Billy but he was my enemy in this film. Very good movie very funny and very underrated! I definitely recommend it and will watch it again...and again!

It's not the worst thing I've ever seen

It's not the worst thing I've ever seen, but Scoundrels is bad because of all its wasted potential. You have a potentially hilarious set up - dork needs older jerk to teach him to man up. You have a great cast (I've personally never found Heder particularly funny, and never managed to finish Napoleon Dynamite - but he is adequate here) as well as a number of hilarious cameos, and the film looks decent - they didn't cut corners. But they took all that and made a movie that was just not funny. In some scenes, especially with Amanda, they just come off as cringeworthy. The movie gets a little better in the 3rd act, but nowhere near enough to save it.

This movie is horrible. The premise is dumb, the acting is atrocious (especially from Jon Heder) and I don't think I laughed more than once or twice. Also, yet another early 2000's movie that needs to have the "End Title Character Explanation" thing. I only care about that if it's a true story. Otherwise, please show and don't tell. Best Character: Lonnie Best Quote: Honestly, none. Best Scene: Paintball Note: What single, minimum wage making guy has $5k sitting around for a class like this?
