Plot summary

Joy and her family fly to help her mother-in-law Loraine with the difficult move from her home in Louisville, Kentucky 600 miles away to a retirement community near the family in Savannah, Georgia. But after a mixed-up flight reservation, Joy reluctantly agrees to take the trip in Loraine's Oldsmobile. Despite their many differences with adventures at every turn and trapped in the car together, they both discover they each may be the best friend they never knew they needed. And realize the love of family is all you need to bridge life's many seasons.

I thought this was a great great film

I thought this was a great great film and the two primary female actors were positively incredible. They aced it. Perfect everything, perfect facial expressions and body language, it was a perfect connection between the two of them. Perfect, perfect. The husband was awesome, too. I truly appreciated everything about the film. Kudos to everyone involved. I know there is a crew behind the scenes who help make the magic happen. Thank you to all. Yes I recommend it. Good to see Pamela Reed and Shawnee Smith

This is a soft, gentle film. The main reason I watched it was to see Pamela Reed and Shawnee Smith, two talented and fine actresses. They mesh well together in this family centered story about a recently widowed senior citizen (Pamela Reed) moving on the the next phase of her life; widowhood and advanced age. Accompanying her on the road trip to her "independant living facility, is her daughter-in-law (Shawnee Smith). Antics ensue. It might be a bit slow and gentle for some, but I enjoyed the multi-generational family dynamic. Plus I'm partial to road trip movies. The writing could have been better; given the actors something to work with.
