Plot summary

Deathly ill Count Dracula and his slimy underling, Anton, travel to Italy in search of a virgin's blood. They're welcomed at the crumbling estate of indebted Marchese Di Fiore, who's desperate to marry off his daughters to rich suitors. But there, instead of pure women, the count encounters incestuous lesbians with vile blood and Marxist manservant Mario, who's suspicious of the aristocratic Dracula.

An innovative classical concept together with individual scenes

An innovative classical concept together with individual scenes of striking visual power more than compensate for some wooden acting performances & sometimes clunky dialogue. It is extremely well lit and the make up is excellent. The scene where Dracula wheels himself through corridors - with the camera mounted close in front of him - possibly inspired techniques used in THE SHINING and at least one CURE music video. It's very well edited too. The film deserves high marks for seamlessly blending sex, horror and eroticism. Oh, and the sequences where Dracula vomits up impure blood are very realistic - I speak as someone who once vomited up half of my own blood. Favourite line: "The blood of these whores will kill me."

This is a soft-porn, satirical farce of Dracula horror as well as of society norms and expectations, especially of sexual ones. Dracula getting sick from drinking non virgin blood was over the top humor and it was this type of humor that kept me watching however I didn't feel it was enough to finally bore me to not have to watch the ending. I chuckled there and there but never had a good laugh. Those who love watching naked bodies romp with bosoms and pubic hair no matter what, will probably enjoy this enough to watch to the end. I got tired of it but did watch most or 75% at least. It's very unique in the presentation of Dracula from the beginning so you know they're going for spoof. He's a vegetarian and travels by wheelchair… pretty clever actually. Polanski has a small on camera role and I bet he had a lot of influence on the story and filming. Worth looking at if you're in the mood for 70s camp and naked bodies "doing what they do"…

As distasteful as a non-virgin to the title

As distasteful as a non-virgin to the title character, Blood for Dracula confuses an assortment of tones, and gets nothing but vapid schlock as a result.
