Bruce Stuttsbury. WWII. Chuck Golisano. Korean War. Claude

Bruce Stuttsbury. WWII. Chuck Golisano. Korean War. Claude Smith. Viet Nam. Friends lost in wars I was a part of. One, a HS classmate. Another, my squadron-mate. I understand the emotions in combat. I think this film does well in capturing these in many ways. Those who have never undergone this experience couldn't possibly understand. Don't like the story? Nothing positive about it? Even a good book can't capture the deep feelings. Maybe next time the war will be on your front step. Let's see how you see things afterwards.

Because I enjoy Saints and Soldiers, the first

Because I enjoy Saints and Soldiers, the first film in this trio (it's not a "trilogy" because the stories are not connected), so much every time I see it, I had high expectations for this film. The production team even assured me when I voiced my concerns about their potential treatment of my beloved Airborne that they "think we got this one right". The first one was so well-made, especially when one considers the shoestring budget upon which it was made. I even made sure that I saw this one in a theater, as I did with the first one. I was really looking forward to it and even posted occasional countdowns to the premier on my Facebook page. As a Latter-day Saint, I always try to support "Mormon Cinema" projects when they're released. I was utterly and thoroughly disappointed, and it wasn't because I had unattainable high hopes for it. It's because it tried in every scene to be as bad as it possibly could. To begin with, the film takes place during World War II, which ended in Europe on May 8, 1945. The "Airborne Creed" was created in 1977. Some of us would call the title a 32-year anachronism, so we've already started out on bad footing and the projector hasn't even been turned on yet! This one could not have even lived up to even low expectations. It is a totally unrealistic fiasco that even Corbin Allred's strong performance (with the script he was given) could not pull out of the dog house with a three-inch thick raw steak! The most egregious sin of this films producers was not bothering to consult with anyone that knows anything about basic military tactics... and common sense! If they had, this could possibly have been an entertaining film.
