Plot summary

Yoshida's first feature follows the lives of young students against a background of jazz, emptiness and boredom. The plot is fairly simple: a "good-for-nothing" from a poor background falls in love with the young secretary of his rich friend's father. The woman senses good in him and tries to lead him on the right path.

A great debut film from Yoshida about a

A great debut film from Yoshida about a group of wannabe teen thugs who leech off the rich kids father. When one of them falls for the dad's assissant he has to protect her while struggling to maintain his existence. Its just a tight mediatative film that gives you flashes of what was to come from Yoshida.

Kiju Yoshida's debut feature is nothing short of

Kiju Yoshida's debut feature is nothing short of phenomenal. It's a slow placed, gorgeously shot exercise in nihilism featuring characters who seem to be constantly bored with life. A group of Japanese youth leech off of a rich kid and amuse themselves by playing pranks on the humorless female assistant of the rich kids dad. When one of the gang starts to fall for the assistant, he's got to struggle both to protect her from his friends and to maintain his carefree life.
