In the words of Sass Hunt "I liked the Morocconess". That for me, must be the only reason this cliched melodrama made it into the Sydney Film Festival.

Disappointing on all fronts. Bill Murray, half-heartedly, plays

Disappointing on all fronts. Bill Murray, half-heartedly, plays a D list Rock Promoter Wanna Be who goes to Afganistan for a USO show but ends up losing his Talent, the amazing Zooey Deschanel, who freaks out and splits. Murray then "discovers" a native girl who can sing, marginally, and wants to appear on the local Afgan Star TV show. This movie is both Confused and Confusing. Kate Hudson phones in a performance as a hillbilly hooker inexplicable making her fortune in Kabul and Scott Caan and Danny McBride appear as manic arms dealers in the middle of a feud between two warlords. There is a lot of air time for Yusef Islam's songs (fka Cat Stevens) who publicly supports the real life fatwa against author Salmon Rushdie and says Rushdie should be killed. So much for free speech. Waste of time, waste of money, not entertaining.
