Plot summary

When zombies overrun San Francisco, a desperate group survives by locking themselves inside Alcatraz Prison. When the undead breach the island, our heroes are forced to return to the mainland overrun with the undead.

Either way, as I like zombie stories, I've found myself watching the movie, without watching the trailer. The Rise of the Zombies movie is about a group of people trying to find a cure in a zombie infected city. The story is passable. The pacing is consistently slow. There are no character arcs. There were no major logical problems, just a lot of minor ones. The story itself is not bad, it's just boring, badly written, with lazy special effects. There's no proper ending, it just leaves to viewer to imagine how things will work out. The cinematography is okay, the movie is watchable. The characters visit multiple places through the story, so it's not monotonous, but I wouldn't call it visually interesting . We don't really get to know the characters. The actors are acceptable. The music (by Chris Ridenhour) is okay. Rise of the Zombies is a weak, but watchable fantasy survival horror, that dedicated fans of the genre might enjoy. **My experience** I was not satisfied with Rise of the Zombies (2012). I prefer stories with well-thought, logical plots, and more intense action, and Rise of the Zombies couldn't deliver that.

Fairly gruesome & gory,

Rise of the Zombies: The old song went: I left my heart in San Francisco; with the Zombie Outbreak you'll be leaving other parts of your anatomy there as well.A water-borne virus has devastated the Bay Area and likely the rest of the U.S. as well. Survivors on Alcatraz work at developing a cure but Zombies float over and almost over run the prison. Those still alive after this attack decide to leave the island, some in search of a vaccine others just to escape. One scientist stays behind.Fairly gruesome & gory, much eating of the living and even a new-born baby Zombie is brutally dispatched. Starring Danny Trejo, Mariel Hemmingway (channeling her grandfather) & LeVar Burton this is watchable TV movie, 5/10.
