Movie is poorly written, With pretentious dialogue that has no connection to how real people talk, Very annoying, Horrid acting by Candice Bergen, Only saving grace is Jacqueline Bisset. She remains sympathetic, despite weird character arcs, like suddenly dating 20 year old men, It was nice seeing a young Meg Ryan, Movie is loaded with celebrity and literary cameos. Sadly, George Cukor's last. and one of his less worthy films.

The shabby text undermines the valiant efforts of the hard-working costars and their stylish director to revive the pleasures of a vintage Hollywood women's picture.

They say friendship can survive anything even when

They say friendship can survive anything even when you're rich and famous Jacqueline Bisset and Candice Bergen are two best friends for life but can it stay that way? Bisset is Liz Hamilton who writes for critics while Bergen is Mary Noel Blake who does it for the money Both of them leave college in 1959 to pursue their dreams As time goes on each of them has successes yet they also develop personal struggles in the process Liz moves from romance to romance unable to solidify a healthy relationship, Mary ends up being married and having a child but wants to write a novel like her It's everything in between that would either build their friendship or ultimately break it Mary and Liz are happy but in truth they want each other's lives Is being rich harder or easier than being famous? Can two people be truly satisfied with how their lives go as planned? This reminded me so much of 'Beaches' with two women attempting to be in each other's lives yet slowly over time they grow apart It's true everyone wants different things to be happy but at the same time not clash with one another Bisset and Bergen are a dime a dozen together, even a young Meg Ryan shows up as Mary's daughter The movie is far too long for its own good But the friendship of Liz and Molly is what keeps this together, they're human beings first looking at all their problems before it's too late I found Liz to be a more interesting character since she's struggling so much to find that sense of pure happiness without constantly losing it This will be trying for some but these two leading ladies make the movie
