Total dreck. Preposterous movie based on a play

Total dreck. Preposterous movie based on a play. Neurotic Gene Wilder retreats to his apartment when he thinks his neighbors and friends are turning into rhinos. They act like rhinos but still keep human form. We are led to believe the metamorphosis is real. No point at all. One of the worst movies I have seen. Kafka's short story Metamorphosis makes more sense and is more entertaining.

It's not that the Ionesco play can't work

It's not that the Ionesco play can't work as a movie. Its that everyone involved in this adaptation makes the fatal mistake of assuming that it is just sort of vaguely anti-conformist and zany which undercuts the specific historical references regarding the spread of Fascism and the broader satire.

I get it. This movie is about humankind

I get it. This movie is about humankind giving into its savage nature and the inevitable collapse of civilization.
