Normally, then the Western movie genre is not my go-to genre of movies for entertainment. But every now and again I sit down to watch one. And as I stumbled upon the 2022 movie "Reina of the West", and never having heard about it, I opted to sit down and check it out. Sure, I had virtually no idea what I was in for here, so I suppose that writer and director Krystal Bolden had every opportunity to entertain me.Writer Krystal Bolden put together an okay enough script and storyline. I mean, it was watchable and entertaining enough for what it was, but it was by no means an outstanding Western tale. The fact that I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list was actually working in favor of the movie, as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances in the movie were fair.As a casual viewer and one that is not overly fond of Western movies in general, then I wasn't particularly impressed with this movie. But I am sure that diehard Western fans will get a bigger kick out of the movie than I did.My rating of writer and director Krystal Bolden's 2022 Western "Reina of the West" lands on a four out of ten stars.
