Rajini Gang (2025) - A Decent Start That Spirals into Cringe

Rajini Gang is a horror-comedy that unfortunately falls victim to the "second-half syndrome." While it arrives with a surprisingly high IMDb rating (currently sitting above 8.0), the actual viewing experience suggests a significant gap between the online hype and the on-screen reality. For many viewers, the film quickly transitions from a passable entertainer to a tedious, cringe-inducing ordeal.The plot follows a young couple, Rajini (Rajini Kiishen) and Myna (Dwivika), who elope to get married. In a moment of desperation, Rajini steals a thaali (mangalsutra) for the ceremony, unaware that it is cursed and tied to a tragic spirit named Ponnarasi. The first half is relatively decent, setting up the elopement and the initial supernatural disturbances with a balance of tension and humor. However, the second half becomes a disaster; the narrative loses its grip, the pacing falters, and the humor often feels forced or dated.While the user mentioned N. S. Sathish Kumar as the director, it's worth noting that he actually served as the Cinematographer (DOP). His work is arguably the film's strongest technical asset, providing sharp visuals and effective night-time shots. The actual direction and screenplay were handled by M. Ramesh Baarathi, whose narration fails to sustain interest after the interval. The music by M. S. Jones Robert and the SFX department also perform well, providing a much-needed atmosphere that the script often lacks.The performances are a mixed bag. Munishkanth and Cool Suresh, usually reliable for comedy, unfortunately feel underutilized or "boring" here, with their usual antics failing to land. Motta Rajendran, however, manages to provide some much-needed "fun and entertainment" with his unique screen presence. The standout performer is undoubtedly the heroine, Dwivika; her portrayal of the possessed Myna is the highlight of the movie, as she effectively balances the vulnerability of her character with the menace of the ghost.Overall, despite its high online ratings, Rajini Gang feels like a "manipulated review" success rather than a genuine cinematic one. It's an average horror-comedy that starts with promise but ends in a confusing and "cringe" mess. Only Dwivika's performance and the technical work by the DOP and music director save it from being a total loss.

I honestly wonder how this even managed to secure streaming rights on Prime; it genuinely feels like it was handed over for free. The 7.6 base rating seems heavily inflated, likely coming from the crew themselves. Save your time, expectations, and patience-avoid this one by all means. Not recommended.
