Queen of Montreuil's lighthearted humor and feel-good mood

Queen of Montreuil's lighthearted humor and feel-good mood soften its subject of grief quite earnestly. The culture clash also provides some quirky comedic elements that work pretty well, and the performances are quite engaging all around (The seal is just adorable.). The film may be too "light" or "cutesy" for some, but overall it works for me. It's not a film to weep or cry out about, but it's a fine little gem.

Some nice ideas- however it doesn't look very good when connecting them together.

No doubt this is a relatively minor film. But it's touching, endearing, quirky and often funny. Loved the way the storyline develops, specially as regards Agathe, the recently widowed film director.Very simple, very lovely. Thanks to MUBI for the opportunity to see this film and the excellent work of its director
