I am absolutely obsessed with this movie. Have to watch least 2-3 times a week. It just shows realism about daily struggle with life. And how your past mistakes can still follow you. It shows real value of love when Luke sacrifices his freedom even if it's only 4 a year just so Cassie doesn't suffer any consequences? Because she was doing it for her own health and he was doing it to correct a past mistake. That part always gets me all the time. But seeing how they fall in love.Overall, it's like the best thing

The concept of Purple Hearts had gold mine

The concept of Purple Hearts had gold mine potential, especially knowing it was based on a book. I’ve always enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers trope when it’s done right, but this just wasn’t it. The story had all the ingredients for something powerful: romance, military themes, emotional stakes, and solid actors. But the execution felt rushed and unfocused, like the director had no clear vision for what the movie was meant to be. The cinematography and editing felt frantic instead of beautiful or impactful. Military stories usually touch my heart, but this felt too simple, almost lazy. It seemed like they were filming scene after scene without actually building a gripping story. The songs were pretty mid too, which didn’t help. This could have been such a strong romance with real emotional weight, but it fell flat on so many levels. So much wasted potential. I had high hopes, so honestly, I’m just upset it wasn’t what I thought it would be.
