Plot summary

Sherwood forest has a courageous new hero - Gwyn, the daughter of Robin Hood. Possessing the cunning skills of her legendary father and the beauty and intelligence of her mother Maid Marian, Gwyn is anxious to follow in her father's footsteps. King Richard nears death and Robin Hood and his Merry Men are summoned to help bring Richard's son Philip to his rightful place on the throne before the evil Prince John can assume power. Robin Hood's life and that of the future King of England soon lies in Gwyn's hands when Robin is captured and sentenced to death.

It's not a bad film but quite good

It's not a bad film but quite good for a low budget one. However, although she's a good actress Knightley is a bit lightweight for the role. She was miscast.

Everyone knows the tale of Robin Hood. Stealing

Everyone knows the tale of Robin Hood. Stealing from the rich to give to the poor. The love of his life is Maiden Marian. But this story from the Wonderful World of Disney actually focuses on their daughter. This is Keira Knightly pre-Pirates of the Caribbean, she plays the titular Gwyn. She is kept safe from the adventurous lifestyle of her parents so no harm will come to her. Malcolm Macdowell as Sheriff of Nottingham still has a price on her fathers head but figures a daughter of his will be of no consequence. Jonathan Hyde as Prince John wants Robin Hood imprisoned. After he's captured, there seems to be no hope. But Gwyn isn't gonna stand by and let her father suffer. So she decides to become a warrior and a swift thief to challenge Prince John's power. The movie moves by fast, does its job servicing its audience to the target demographic, and Keira Knightly carries the role on her own.
