Phil Wang's quirky comedy is definitely fun to watch when on panel shows as it makes him stand out, but this special was just generic (race, Covid-19, veganism). Bite size versions of Wang's comedy is easier to watch as you realise he is the gimmick (usually playing to the Asian and millennial stereotypes or wearing his silly yellow suit in TaskMaster). This was just a load of mismatch jokes woven together. His set doesn't feel polished enough for a Netflix special, maybe this is due to lockdown and not being able to perform that much, who knows. It just doesn't click as it becomes more monotonous throughout, waiting for a reason to not turn it off. His jokes definitely felt cheap as you don't feel fulfilled/entertained afterwards. Just questioning what you're watching... If you've seen him on panel shows or heard him a podcast, decide for yourself but if you're going into this not knowing much about Phil Wang I would recommend staying away as this is a tough watch.
