Not the worst thing ever, and an interesting

Not the worst thing ever, and an interesting premise. I do think the casting is weak - Demi Moore doesn't have the vulnerability to carry off the role and she wasn't the eye candy she was in the 80s anymore. And I cannot get the image of Stellan Skarsgard running around in his underwear in that Thor movie and cannot take him seriously as a romantic lead. And honestly, he doesn't come off as a romantic lead here - more like a creepy stalker simp.

I thought the movie was thought provoking and

I thought the movie was thought provoking and we'll done. The reviews I've read have it all wrong! Maybe that's why they didn't like it! Marie/Marty lives two lives while coming to grips with severe trauma as a child. We see this play out in her life in France and her life in New York. People who think this is about life choices are missing the entire premise of the movie. Once she realizes what the trauma was and how she's been dealing with it, the ending is clear. I don't know how so many reviewers/critics got this wrong. There is no husband or children in France. The little girls are her when she was younger. The box of treasures that is supposedly her daughter's is actually hers, filled with her mother's things. I don't know how anyone could've gotten this wrong. AI certainly did!
