"Padre Padrone," which should be understood as "Father and Master," is based on an autobiographical novel that tells the story of Gavino Ledda's life. The film begins when his father takes him out of school at the age of 6! So, theoretically, it's 1944. This film is very interesting; it shows how people lived in this remote corner of Sardinia, Italy. It's a moving and sometimes poignant film that won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1977.
