What makes this documentary difficult to watch is

What makes this documentary difficult to watch is that we all know the ending. The wounds of losing a music icon like Ozzy are still fresh in our collective minds. We've been allowed inside the Osbournes' lives before, but the mood is much different this time. Over the course of a 4-to-5-year span, we watch John—not the mythical "Ozzy" Osbourne—deteriorate in front of our eyes. If you've ever endured a chronic condition that leaves you feeling good one day and terrible the next, you'll watch empathetically as Ozzy tries to return to the thing he loves: music. In this attempt, you'll also see just how powerful, healing, and truly motivating music can be to the human spirit. James Hetfield delivers a poignant quote that embodies the film's central arc in the days leading up to Ozzy's final show: "It's gotta be difficult when your mind wants to do what you've always done because there's no doubt the spirit of heavy metal lives in Ozzy Osbourne … but your body is telling you, 'I am just so done'… that's gotta be a very difficult position to be in … and I will get there one day, I'm sure. And I don't know how I'm going to handle that either, so, again, Ozzy is cutting the path for us."

Mikey’s Movie Review: Ozzy: No Escape From Now

Mikey’s Movie Review: Ozzy: No Escape From Now (2025) A beautifully made, occasionally funny, poignant farewell to the ‘Prince of Darkness’… Most of us fans already know much of HIStory (although much of it is covered here), but this is so much more. This is really about his final years. His daily struggles with Parkinson’s and a crippling spinal surgery in 2019 that may have been unnecessary… As his ever devout wife Sharon watches him fall into a massive depression, the Osbourne family’s devotion and encouragement together with unwavering support from fans and bandmates (old and new) appear to give him the boost he needs. But will it be enough to get him to make one final LIVE appearance? It’s a mostly painful watch as the documentary chronicles eventual triumphs tinged with sadness. But as a testament to both his enduring legacy and the indomitable human spirit it’s a fitting epitaph. Don’t miss it. But stock up on tissues first! Mikey’s Movie Rating: 5/5*
