Hellhole is a surprisingly effective descent into demonic

Hellhole is a surprisingly effective descent into demonic gloom—like a Polish fever dream you probably shouldn’t have started watching alone at night. It’s genuinely strong in atmosphere and creepy imagery, confidently building dread in a way most modern horror films forget how to do. That said, the score occasionally wanders a bit too close to "we have Hereditary at home," trying to borrow that same spiraling, grief-soaked unease—but without quite reaching the same haunting precision. Still, it works. The film earns its chills, and even when it imitates its inspirations, it never loses its own dark identity. Verdict: A solid, stylish infernal trip—just with a soundtrack that sometimes thinks it’s in another movie.

Extra half star because the ending was awesome

Extra half star because the ending was awesome, but nothing fancy, and I expect a lot from Polish horror after the No One Sleeps in the Woods Tonight movies.
