Ordinary Girl in a Tiara is a lovely

Ordinary Girl in a Tiara is a lovely film. Katherine King So gives a natural performance that fits the tone of the story well, and the chemistry between the two lead actors feels easy and believable, helping the film flow nicely. The film’s clear affection for vintage clothing is a novel bonus. This is an adaptation of Jessica Hart’s book written for a more modern and diverse audience. As executive producer Craig Cegielski notes, "Their journey isn’t about one rescuing the other. It’s about two people helping each other evolve."

Not my cup of tea...

I have to say that romantic movies is not really my go-to type of movies for entertainment, but I do sit down every now and again to watch one. Though it is not frequently, especially since the sap tends to run thickly in such movies.Writer Lisa Rose Snow failed to deliver a script that entertained me. But then again, I am not overly keen on romantic movies, much less of this kind. So I wasn't particularly entertained by the narrative.In all fairness, then the acting performances in the movie were good. I was actually not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list.Honestly, then I was definitely not within the demographic target audience for a movie such as this. And I am sure that there is an audience out there that will enjoy this movie far, far more than I did as a casual viewer.My rating of director Meeshelle Neal's 2025 movie "Ordinary Girl in a Tiara" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

Pleasant and inspiring movie about two women ho improve each other

This does not seem like a romcom to me because it is about two women. It actually works as a movie about two platonic friends except for a few scenes. They start out angry at each other because they are so different, one rich and spoiled, the other determined to achieve despite limitations. And both are good influences on each other.Both female leads are pleasant enough and quite good looking. Caro is intelligent, good at interacting with people, and determined to achieve. And she looks hot in one of her dresses. She also wears a really short dress with dark hose, and an outfit that is kind of tight and looks good from the back.Philippa doesn't show how pretty she is when she is at work, and she is nasty to people but tries to fake being charming. But over time she shows she cares more about people when she doesn't have to impress her demanding mother. And she too is quite pretty. One thing that is confusing is that she looks Asian when played by a different actress as a teen. I actually thought that teen was Emma, who was Asian.Like any romcom, this movie has conflicts that have to be dealt with, and obstacles that have to stand in the way of a happy ending.I thought Burt the friendly landlord looked familiar. But I've never heard of Dmitry Chepovetsky, so I don't know why I believed this. He is quite likable even though he had a job to do.Rudy, Caro's boss, is hard to like but he has the right kind of attitude for someone who has been in business a long time and knows what he is doing, and thinks others' ideas are inferior.Iris is warm and quite likable, especially later. She has been a customer of Rudy's for a long time because she keeps getting married.I'm not sure why The CW chose this so close to Christmas. The holiday is never mentioned, but the network was showing lots of romcoms.What passes for music in this movie is to real music, in my opinion, what a greasy spoon is to a Michelin rated restaurant. I'm not in the target audience. One exception is a scene where a booth is being set up for a vintage clothing market, with Latin-flavored guitar.Is it family friendly? I wouldn't exactly recommend it to kids, but I suppose it is clean enough. Some people might have trouble with a lesbian romance. And I can definitely say this is not G-rated, but for reasons that would also apply with heterosexual romance.Is it worth seeing? I think so.
