Plot summary

Down and out Stan and Ollie beg for food from a friendly old lady who provides them with sandwiches. While eating, they overhear the lady's landlord tell her he's going to throw her out because she can't pay her mortgage. They don't realize that the old lady is really rehearsing for a play. Stan and Ollie decide to help the old lady by selling their car. During the auction a drunk puts a wallet in Stan's pocket. Ollie accuses Stan of robbing the old lady, but when the truth is revealed Stan takes revenge on Ollie.

A fun turn by the comedic duo in

A fun turn by the comedic duo in which Laurel and Hardy, endangered by the Great Depression and thus not having had food in three days (though surely Ollie could have gone a while longer) overhear a kind lady, who has taken them in and given them sandwiches and comfort, is in danger of eviction by her landlord. Not knowing they're simply amateur actors rehearsing for a community play, they try to help her out and chaos ensues. At the end is one of the rare times on screen that Laurel takes revenge on Hardy for ill-treatment.

To get ready for Stan and Ollie, I decided to watch a few of there old short films. One Good Turn is a brilliantly acted and extremely funny film, filled with great slapstick jokes. It's very poorly made by today's standards e.g the editing, cinematography and audio are all terrible but I'm not gonna to judge the film because it was made in 1931. Overall, a funny film which is a good way of remembering Laurel and Hardy.
