Great to see Bruce Brown update his dad's

Great to see Bruce Brown update his dad's iconic motorcycle movie in true Brown form. I was surprised not to see any footage on one of motorcycle racing's most famous figures Malcolm Smith. Also nothing on the Isle of Mann! But, all and all a great film that will be in every motorcycle enthusiast's collection!

To some a motorcycle is work to others it's a simple way to get around Whether it's racing or a drive in the countryside Arguably the most important motorcycle film ever this sports documentary explores all the aspects of the motor vehicle and people's fascination with it Bruce Brown narrrates by producing, writing, and directing He showcases celebrity racers like Malcolm Smith, Mert Lawwill, and a certain A-list actor by the name of Steve McQueen as well as local citizens who love the thrill of it Motorcycles are more than just amped up bikes The footage filmed here isn't half bad especially the POV shots of actually being behind the wheel with portions of slow-motion to capture and slow down the moments Some great aerial footage too with striking telephoto lens This was filmed in 16 millimeter film so it has that vintage feel to it The music sprinkled throughout goes from sunbaked surf ballads to funky R&B grooves and even some silly old-time numbers, each piece matching perfectly to what's on screen Brown narrates perfectly dictating the sport and found a passion for it after he turned away from surfing Motorcycle racing is a violent world in itself since the driver is so close to others on the track and there's risks of crashes and burnouts, after all they speed over 100 mph Intense speeds, keeping your heads down, and rush of air hitting your face The weather elements are a challenge too ranging from intense heat, mud covered tracks from rain, and ice covered terrain next to sub-freezing temperatures Plus keeping those scoring points is tough if you fall behind which leads to less pay But it is a beautiful sight to behold for a lot of fans Daytona Beach Florida motorcycle competition is the ultimate battlefield yet the races in Europe are much more demanding plus in California entire public roads are closed off to appeal to local residents This documentary definitely made an impact on American culture as well as motorcycling This also has been credited with getting thousands of people into motorcycling while helping to dispel the negative perception of motorcyclists cultivated throughout the 1960s It is the most physically demanding sport next to soccer but it's a fun challenge to battle the race course As Brown says, "There's something about going riding with your friends—a feeling of freedom, a feeling of joy—that really can't be put into words. It can only be fully shared by someone who's done it."  This is somewhat dated but nostalgic
