Plot summary

In the grip of grief following the death of his young son, his marriage on the rocks and nearing bankruptcy, Parker reluctantly returns to work as a private investigator. Embarking on an unusual assignment to observe a woman from an abandoned apartment, Parker witnesses bizarre happenings surrounding her, unaware that the derelict building that he surveys her from has birthed a dark presence which slowly threatens to consume him.

This film sets up a plot and then fails to follow through on it. It just dissolves into a bunch of gory horror effects with no explanation. I mean none. Zero. I suppose some people think it's artsy in the style over substance vein. Not me. I don't mind ambiguity in films, but this one just didn't work for me.

I don't need stories to have tidy resolution

I don't need stories to have tidy resolution, so even make complete sense, many movies I love don't do or have one or either of those things. I watched this to the end with my fingers crossed, hoping it would offer some reward for the effort. I think a more extreme, mind bending series of last events may have saved it for me. I felt it was a failure of imagination. Ultimately it just felt like time wasted. The editing and sound design were very heavy handed, but these would be minor complaints if the film had offered more.
