I didn't have the patience to wait for

I didn't have the patience to wait for the credits. I found the acting in particular quite distracting. The actors were trying too hard and making it feel like a stage play. The story was somewhat choppy and lacked natural rhythm. There was just something about this production that made me feel there was a hotel or jet boat just out of shot.

Heck of a lot better than RT rating

Heck of a lot better than RT rating ! Not gangbusters but quite good - especially for a Greek/Russian project. A good period-piece of an important person in Greece and Russia history. Yet, perhaps exactly for that reason, not popular with American and central-Europe audience - who wouldn't know about the man. Western distributors changed name from 'God loves Caviar' to 'The Pirate' for marketing - but it was not a 'swashbuckler' and folks disappointed. Recommend
