Plot summary

A man named Seligman finds a fainted wounded woman in an alley and he brings her home. She tells him that her name is Joe and that she is nymphomaniac. Joe tells her life and sexual experiences with hundreds of men since she was a young teenager while Seligman tells about his hobbies, such as fly fishing, reading about Fibonacci numbers or listening to organ music.

I'm giving this movie 5 stars because of the pure spectacle and audacity Von Trier had to create something like this. This is my first Von Trier film (what a doozy). It's definitely not to everyone's taste, and like Showgirls, you have to WANT to see it. It's not just some movie you randomly pick on a whim. The story itself explores this not-so-innocent topic with as much innocence as possible, notably the copious amounts of humor sprinkled throughout, which I wasn't really expecting. Unbelievable cast. Seeing Christian Slater in a movie like this was hilarious. I also gave this 5 stars because even though I haven't seen any other Von Trier films, I know most of them are bold shockers. Despite how controversial he might be, we need directors like this to make things interesting and to start conversations. I really don't want to see the second one. It looks more gross than the first. Next up: Breaking the Waves! Heard that's one of his best.

best movie of the year and best actors. a big protest against this fake movies surprassing human sexuality and showing bed scenes where the woman has a Sheed arraund her body and the man something arround his hips. seldom, mostly in French movies is shown a natural behavior in bed scenes. this film shows everything in natural positions.
