Plot summary

L'addio di Claudio Caligari è un film con tanto talento nella regia quanto negli attori. La scoperta del duo Borghi-Marinelli è una svolta per l'intero cinema italiano e che da solo vale l'intera visione con gli interessi. La sceneggiatura si limita a raccontare la storia di due amici fraterni che sopravvivono nella periferia di Roma tra risse, spaccio e feste; nulla di rivoluzionario ma tutto ben eseguito, con il definirsi dei personaggi esattamente come ci si aspetta, uno verso la salvezza e l'altro verso la dannazione. Fin da subito la sintonia e la bravura dei due attori è estremamente magnetica; si è totalmente catturati dalle movenze e dalle espressioni. Di notevole efficacia e qualità il finale; che riesce allo stesso tempo ad essere toccante e a far riflettere lasciando parecchi dubbi allo spettatore.

The realism is brutal, but never sterile: what emerges is a tender, aching humanity under layers of crime, drugs, and survival. The cinematography doesn't romanticize, yet it glows with empathy. Caligari observes his characters like a brother, not a judge. Not for every moment, but essential when you're ready to confront the failure of dreams, the weight of loyalty, and the kind of love that hurts more than it heals. A film to carry with you - like a bruise that stays warm.
