A typical action movie that is held together

A typical action movie that is held together by the strong two leads that eventually fall in love and of course the City of New Orleans really bring new life to this film action scenes.

Certainly no masterpiece, but I found it oddy

Certainly no masterpiece, but I found it oddy captivating, relatable and even sweet when I was a kid. Watching it now, for the first time in 40 years later, I guess that sweet spot lingers. A way of convening with my kid self, if nothing else.

I like Richard Gere and this film was

I like Richard Gere and this film was better than I thought it would be. The photography was really beautiful, lots of dark streets, fire in darkness, water in swamps. Not as violent as I feared- more implied than shown. The sex is also discreet whist passionate and heartfelt. The relationship develops sensitively and the gangster stuff provides the background for it.
