Plot summary

James Stewart plays aeronautical engineer Theodore Honey, the quintessential absent-minded professor: eccentric, forgetful, but brilliant. His studies show that the aircraft being manufactured by his employer has a subtle but deadly design flaw that manifests itself only after the aircraft has flown a certain number of hours. En route to a crash site to prove his theory, Honey discovers that he is aboard a plane rapidly approaching his predicted deadline.

What a wonderful movie , and a perfect

What a wonderful movie , and a perfect vehicle for a wonderful cast of actors particularly Jimmy Stewart, Marlene Dietrich and the incomperably beautiful and talented Glynis Johns ! It's a story that draws you in and keeps you engaged throughout, at least it did me ! The moral of the story is to stay the course and have self belief when truth is at stake. It's never been more important in these worrying times when so many take the easy way out to avoid censure or even financial consequences! I've always been a fan of Mr Stewart but for me this is a stand out performance that deserves highest praise. I must have watched this film 4 times now over the period of as many years. Stewart's distinguished service in the US air command gives this role even more credibility...he would know his stuff when it came to aeronautical matters , and structural tolerances having flown many times in military service ! Definitely a 5 out of 5 film...all the easy to stars !
