Plot summary

Reese, an elite member of a covert unit of Ninja Warriors, is captured. Being tortured for information, Reese recalls the lessons learned from his training in order to fight his way free and stop an evil conglomerate from arming a dangerous weapon.

Those I've spoken to about this film complain

Those I've spoken to about this film complain about little things--whatever people want to say about it. But the truth is, I really enjoyed the film because it contains a deeply spiritual message without the trappings of religion, and a supernatural bent based on things I can tell you aren't necessarily that far off from reality. To me, this film contains the hallmarks of a cult classic waiting to happen: a hero fighting against impossible odds, trying to discover what's holding him back, and realizing exactly what that is (I won't spoil the surprise). While not necessarily "blockbuster" quality, it still has a compelling story with a hero every bit as relatable as any of the other superheroes in DC or Marvel.

I would give this movie 4 stars. It is lower budget than big Hollywood pictures, but even with that obstacle, the story, action scenes, and realistic representation of Ninjutsu was top notch.

It lost a half-star for the special effects. Storyline/Plot: Superb Theme: Excellent Content: Great Acting: Mostly OK Direction: Decent I've added this as required watching for my spirituality students, along with the Star Wars franchise, the Matrix, Ink, and Cloud Atlas.
