Plot summary

The year is 2043. A military occupation controls disenfranchised cities in post-war North America. Children are property of the State. A desperate Cree woman joins an underground band of vigilantes to infiltrate a State children’s academy and get her daughter back. Night Raiders is a female-driven dystopian drama about resilience, courage and love.

Starts out intriguing - a bit slow

Starts out intriguing - a bit slow - but turns miserable and nasty and the 'heroine' ends up being an awful enough person to make me sick. They wait until the end of the movie to 'kill the cat', as writers say. There is nothing uplifting unless you are tunnel-vision on the mother-daughter story and it is a very simplistic story without much depth.

Could Have Been a Good Pilot (12,365 – 30 Mar 2026) In 2043, North America is a dystopian society living under a military dictatorship that demands that any children be delivered to the government when he or she is four. Niska and her 11-year-old daughter Waseese have survived for six years living in the forest. But when Waseese steps on a beartrap, Niska heads to the house of her old friend Roberta, who suggests she deliver her daughter to the authorities to have medical care and Niska leaves her daughter behind. Ten months later, Niska lives in a flat and is abducted by a group of Cree that believes she is the guardian and will lead the children to the sanctuary Bigstone. Niska requests Waseese and the Cree go to the academy to bring her. "Night Raiders" (2021) is a movie that could have been a good pilot. The story and details are too long for a feature and after a promising beginning, becomes confusing. My vote is six. Title (Brazil): "Invasores da Noite" ("Night Invaders")
