Overrated "slow-burn" (in other words: tedious) mystery that doesn’t come to life until the last act. By that time, nothing has occurred to engage or interest the viewer so, the plot gradually descends into a somewhat confusing and completely unsatisfying lost cause. The film’s cult status, as well as all the positive Tomatometer reviews, are frankly unjustified.

I don’t know which of those people that

I don’t know which of those people that gave 100% reviews were smoking crack but I watched this movie and it was OVERRATED. It was not 100%. I am an expert when it comes to movies, and even though it was interesting and novel, it did not deserve a 100% rating. It’s almost like this movie was a third grader and they gave it a participation award when it didn’t deserve it

An eerie Gothic mystery from down under. The

An eerie Gothic mystery from down under. The shift in the finale to more traditional horror shouldn't work and yet it mostly does. The editing work is fantastic.
