Plot summary

Discharged naval officer Dan Corbett moves to New Orleans and accepts a job as a longshoreman, unaware that the docks are run by an infamous racketeer. When the dock manager is murdered before he can notify the authorities of their criminal scheme, Dan coordinates with the police to go undercover and investigate.

The prolific cinematographer Henry Freulich distinguishes himself with his on-location work in New Orleans. It's always cool seeing Mike Mazurki in a movie, even, unfortunately, if he just stands around and does very little. The female co-leads do fine work, Beverly Garland and Helene Stanton.

As 50's era movies go it was a good one. A little hammy but not formula like many were and the backdrop of the port of New Orleans was an interesting setting.
