Clever, biting social commentary that doesn't have a

Clever, biting social commentary that doesn't have a dull moment. Neal is at the height of his art yet the only one holding that auspicious position who remains devoid of any semblance self-aggrandisement or cockiness. This adds to his appeal as a witty commentator in my view - no strutting, or need to overact, just insightful dissection of all human BS, posturing, insecurities, greed etc. He stands on an unembellished stage and delivers thought-provoking laughs like machine gun fire. Top comedian.

Without the props or gimmicks I like his

Without the props or gimmicks I like his comedy much less. He's perhaps not a pure standup type comic, and his setups for his takes are a little toward the cringey, like he's just slightly behind the wave of what's edgy but within the context of the time.
