Plot summary

Bunny Yeager, once heralded as the world's prettiest photographer, had a huge influence in 20th-century pop culture though few people know her name. Whether by popularizing the bikini, helping discover Bettie Page, shaping the image of Playboy or inventing the selfie, Bunny was a trailblazer whose work bucked against conservative 1950s America and helped pave the way for the feminist movement and the sexual revolution. Yet the very changes she helped usher in would soon render her a forgotten relic...till now.

A Woman's Work: Yeager's Photography

This is an entreating documentary on the pin-up photographer, Bunny Yeager, awaits a viewer following. Her photo lifework has been explored by many via graphic design, models, actors and even punk rock bands. Her risque models such as Bettie Page really cemented a subculture of imagery by women.With interviews of personas from Hugh Heffner to Larry King, tells her story as a model, mother, wife and photographer. The endearing interviews with her daughters gives such a family portrait of Yeager.And of course, from the artworld - curators and gallerists are introduced with their ideas of Yeager's photos which some of their interpretations seemed a little far fetched. Even with one of the interviews of a curator, she asked how much will each photo sell for. He responded this an exhibit where no sales will happen just to recognize her contribution to pin-up photography.The truth of the matter of Yeager's motivation is about an possible, exploited model who got tired of posing for others and then leaving the set with no earnt salary. Once she picked-up the trade begun her control of an earnest income to be made. She was able to be professional, humane with nude models since of her background posing semi-nude or in bikinis.In which she DID revolutionized with photographic skills and techniques with bikini model shots. She was never in IT for the art, just for a professional so she could balanced her time as a mother and a wife. In her later life, she became giving workshops for other photographers to take pictures, etc.There's interviews looking at the idea of 1,2,3 waves of Feminist thoughts, to help newbies to appreciate Yeager's work making the idea of pin-up photography palpable. If you are a fan of "sex kittens", Bettie Page, pin-up postcard culture, this film is definitely worth of a viewing!

Interesting doc about a fascinating person

Watched at the Oak Cliff Film Festival.Everybody has heard of Betty Page, but few have heard of the photographer who took many of her most iconic photographs. The fact that this photographer was herself a bombshell, known at the time as the "prettiest photographer in the world," makes the story even more interesting. With an abundance of footage and photographs, and interviews with heavy-weights such as Larry King, Bruce Weber and even Hugh Hefner (this last one archival), the producers create a compelling narrative filled with eye candy. It is highly entertaining and informative. The film never looses its focus, which is on the ground-breaking career of a gifted, hard-working woman who thrived in a men's world. Interviews with the two daughters, who have different views on their mother's work, add to the layered approach of the film.
